FAQs

Q: How do I know if we’re a good fit?

A: That’s what the free consultation is for. We’ll talk about what you’re dealing with, what you’ve tried, and what you’re hoping for. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you.

Q: I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help. Why would this be different?

A: Not all therapy is the same. If you’ve only done traditional talk therapy, approaches like EMDR can be game-changing, especially for trauma and anxiety that’s “stuck” in your body. We’ll discuss what you’ve tried and what might work better.

Q: How long does therapy take?

A: It varies. Some clients see significant improvement in 8-15 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work. We’ll discuss your goals in our first session and track your progress along the way. You are in control.

Q: Is virtual therapy really as effective as in-person?

A: Yes. Research shows virtual therapy is just as effective for anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress. EMDR can be successfully delivered online. As long as you have a private space and stable internet, it works exactly the same.

Q: What if I’m not ready to talk about certain things yet?

A: You set the pace. We only go as deep as you’re ready to go. Therapy works best when you feel in control, and not pushed.

Q: What do I need to be able to do online therapy?

A: You need to have a private, safe location with a good internet connection. You also need a computer with a webcam or a phone. If we are doing EMDR therapy you will need both a computer or iPad and a phone with headphones or ear buds. You don’t even need to leave the comfort of your home.

Q: Can I do EMDR in teletherapy?

A: Absolutely! I’ve been doing it for years and it has worked great.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: I accept Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Regence, and United Healthcare.

Q: Do you take clients without insurance?

A: Absolutely. The advantage of not using insurance is your privacy. Using insurance entitles the insurance company to a copy of your records if they so choose.

Q: How much does therapy cost?

A: First session: $150

Ongoing 53 minute sessions $135
