I Help High-Achievers Who Are Tired of Pretending They’re Fine
EMDR & CBT therapy for adults who look successful on the outside but struggle with anxiety, trauma, depression, or stress on the inside.
Hi, I'm Lori Lieb.
I became a therapist because I believe nobody should have to carry everything alone, especially people who have spent their lives being the strong one, the capable one, the one everyone else leans on.
My clients are intelligent, goal-oriented adults who are used to figuring things out on their own. They're high-achievers who appear successful but are struggling underneath. They're dealing with anxiety that shows up in their body, trauma they thought they'd moved past, or stress that's affecting everything from their sleep to their relationships.
They're ready to understand what's really happening, and do something about it.
If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.
I Specialize in Working With. . .
High-achieving adults who are tired of pushing through. You meet every deadline, show up for everyone, and look fine on the surface. But internally? You're anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted. You've tried managing it on your own, and it's not working anymore.
People whose anxiety lives in their body. Chest tightness, racing heart, tension headaches, digestive issues, are some of the symptoms that your doctors can't fully explain. You know it's connected to stress or anxiety, but you don't know how to make it stop.
Adults dealing with trauma or PTSD. Past experiences that still affect your present, triggering you in ways you don't understand, creating reactions you don't like, or keeping you stuck in patterns you can't seem to break.
Caretakers and people-pleasers who are exceptional at taking care of everyone else but terrible at taking care of themselves. Your needs feel optional. Boundaries feel impossible. Rest feels selfish.
People navigating relationship struggles. Maybe your partner suggested therapy. Maybe the same conflicts keep happening. Maybe you're tired of shutting down, snapping, or walking away, and you want to show up differently.
Anyone ready for real change, not just coping strategies. You don't want to just manage your symptoms. You want to address what's actually driving them. You're willing to do the work, and you're looking for someone who can guide you through it.
I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. What works for one person might not work for another. My approach is personalized, evidence-based, and focused on getting you real results.
How I Work
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
I'm a trained EMDR therapist, trained to help your brain process trauma, anxiety, and difficult experiences that talk therapy alone hasn't resolved. EMDR is particularly effective for:
Trauma and PTSD
Panic attacks and phobias
Intrusive thoughts or flashbacks
Emotional reactivity you can't control
Experiences that feel "stuck" in your body
EMDR helps your brain reprocess memories and experiences so they lose their emotional charge and stop disrupting your life. It's not hypnosis, and you won't forget what happened, but it will stop controlling you.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
CBT helps you identify and change the thought patterns and behaviors that keep you stuck in anxiety, depression, or self-criticism. It's practical, skills-based, and gives you tools you can use between sessions.
CBT is effective for:
Anxious thought spirals
Negative self-talk and perfectionism
Avoidance behaviors
Depression and hopelessness
Worry and catastrophizing
You'll learn to catch unhelpful thoughts before they spiral, challenge distorted thinking, and respond differently to triggers.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Mindfulness isn't just meditation (though that can be part of it). It's about building awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and body, so you can respond instead of react.
Mindfulness helps with:
Nervous system regulation
Staying present instead of stuck in the past or future
Reducing rumination and worry
Managing overwhelming emotions
Creating space between trigger and response
I teach practical, accessible mindfulness techniques you can actually use in daily life.
I combine these approaches based on what you need. Some sessions might focus on EMDR processing. Others might work on thought patterns with CBT or grounding techniques with mindfulness. The goal is always the same: help you feel better and function better in your life.
Why My Clients Choose to Work With Me
I get high-achievers. I understand the unique challenges of looking successful while struggling internally. You don't need someone to tell you to "just relax" or "practice self-care." You need someone who gets what you're dealing with, and has real tools to help.
I'm direct and empowering. I won't coddle you, but I won't push you either. I will tell you the truth, give you practical strategies, and trust you to do the work. Therapy with me is collaborative, you're an active participant, not a passive recipient.
I’m EMDR trained and provide trauma-informed care. I’m trained in EMDR therapy and have effectively used it with hundreds of clients.
I address root causes, not just symptoms. If past trauma, unresolved experiences, or learned patterns are driving your anxiety or depression, we work on those, not just surface-level coping strategies.
Virtual therapy that actually works. No commute, no waiting room, no adding another thing to your already-full schedule. EMDR and CBT are just as effective online, and you get the same quality care from wherever you're comfortable.
I do the ongoing training. The field of mental health evolves. I stay current with research, attend trainings, and continually develop my skills so I can offer you the most effective approaches.
I respect your time and intelligence. You're busy. You're smart. You don't need therapy to last forever. We work efficiently, track progress, and adjust as needed. When you've met your goals, we celebrate and wrap up.
I Might Not Be the Right Fit If. . .
I want to be honest about who I work best with, and who might be better served elsewhere.
I'm not the right fit if:
You're looking for someone to just listen without challenging you. I'm empathetic and supportive, but I'll also ask hard questions and encourage you to do things differently.
You're not willing to do work between sessions. Therapy isn't just what happens in our 50 minutes together. Real change requires practice, homework, and applying what you're learning.
You're seeking medication management. I'm not a prescriber. If you need medication for anxiety, depression, or PTSD, I can coordinate with your psychiatrist, but I can't prescribe.
You're looking for couples therapy. I specialize in individual therapy. While your work with me might improve your relationship, I don't provide couples counseling.
You're in active crisis needing more support than weekly therapy provides. If you're in crisis, you may need a higher level of care (intensive outpatient, hospitalization, or more frequent sessions than I can provide).
I am the right fit if:
You're motivated to change and willing to do the work. You're showing up ready to try new things, even when they're uncomfortable.
You want evidence-based approaches. EMDR and CBT are backed by research, and you appreciate that.
You value directness and collaboration. You want a therapist who's honest, practical, and treats you as a partner in your healing.
You're ready to address root causes. You're tired of just managing symptoms and want to understand what's really driving them.
What Working Together Looks Like
-
We'll have a brief phone call to discuss what you're dealing with and whether we're a good fit. This is your chance to ask questions, get a sense of my approach, and see if you feel comfortable working with me.
No pressure. No obligation.
Just a conversation.
-
In our first session, we'll go deeper into your history, current symptoms, and what you want to achieve in therapy. I'll ask questions to understand what's going on and what's brought you to therapy now.
You'll leave with:
Clarity about what we're working on
A preliminary treatment plan
Your first coping tool or technique
A sense of whether this feels like the right fit
-
We'll meet weekly or bi-weekly via secure video. Sessions are 54 minutes.
Depending on what you need, we might:
Do EMDR processing on specific memories or experiences
Work on thought patterns and behaviors with CBT
Build nervous system regulation skills with mindfulness
Practice setting boundaries or communication strategies
Track progress and adjust our approach as needed
You'll also get homework between sessions, worksheets, practice exercises, or specific things to try. Therapy works best when you're actively engaged between sessions, not just during them.
-
We'll regularly check in on your goals and how you're progressing. Therapy isn't meant to last forever. When you've met your goals and have the tools you need, we'll plan for ending or spacing out sessions.
Some clients see significant improvement in 8-15 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work. It varies based on your goals and what we're addressing.
If you're tired of managing symptoms and ready to address what's actually driving them, let's talk.
You don't have to have it all figured out before we start. You don't need to hit rock bottom to deserve support. You just need to be ready to try something different.
I work with adults in Texas and Idaho who are ready for real change. If that's you, I'd love to help.
